Frhyythms Percussions

From the feeling of “five senses” to the feeling of “no senses,” it is a process of “awakening.” “Awakening” is the core concept behind the founding of the Frhythms Percussions.

Our Teams

The ensemble was founded in 2016, with its founder, Thong Yoong How, believing that to reach the state of “awakening,” one must start with the most fundamental aspect—being a good person.

Currently, the ensemble consists of 4 full-time members, 8 part-time members, and 4 interns, each fulfilling their respective roles.

Drumming Arts Education

Through the tradition of the Southern Lion Drum, we strive to make percussion more accessible while teaching the next generation not just the art of drumming, but also the values of character and discipline. Our mission is to nurture skilled percussionists and grow a community of audiences who truly appreciate the beauty of the performing arts.

Performing Arts

In terms of performance, our ensemble incorporates percussion instruments from various cultures, along with dance movements and theatrical elements. This fusion allows us to create percussion-driven performances while exploring new possibilities and forms of expression on stage.

Handpan Exploration

At the inception of the ensemble, Thong Yoong How. formed a special connection with the handpan, a percussion instrument that emerged in the 21st century. From the very beginning, he dedicated himself to studying the handpan and has since launched handpan workshops and performances. This initiative has become a distinctive project that showcases the ensemble’s unique character.
